Red oranges are grown in Sicily, exclusively in Piana di Catania and in some villages in the Enna and Siracusa area.
Sicilian red oranges are unique in their taste and nutritional value due to their combination of volcanic soil and Mediterranean climate, and are considered the best healthy fruit, so much so that the European Union has awarded them a PGI mark .
